Did you hear that Google Reader will soon be gone? I thought they went through this last year... I never lost it - but there was a lot of talk about it. Anyone know if it's really true this time?
Whether or not it is, I want to be prepared - and for all of you who have recently joined my blog via GFC, I'd love for you to do this too! Bloglovin' is a free blog reader that, as far as I know, allows you to read all of your favorite blogs {blogger, wordpress, etc} in one place. You can even follow blogs that aren't set up for you to follow {they don't have a bloglovin' widget}. When I finally "claimed" my blog, I already had five followers via Bloglovin'. Also, after I signed up, I automatically got an email at the end of the day with new posts from the blogs I followed. You can opt out of it if you choose.
Anyway. When I first read that GFC would be canceled, I thought about the lovely blogs I follow via GFC... And how I would have to re-follow them on Bloglovin'. Can you say headache? Well, it doesn't have to be.
If you're a blogger, head over to Bloglovin', set up an account, and claim your blog. If you're not a blogger, just set up an account! Then you can import the blogs you follow via GFC. Here's a little tutorial to help you do just that!
Click on the "here" button - the arrow above points to it!
Click "Google reader"
Click "Import from Google Reader"
Click "Allow access"
Then it'll take you to your Bloglovin' feed. If it doesn't, just refresh your Bloglovin' page. The blogs you follow will show up on the left.
Now you have several options on reading your favorite blogs:
{1} You can read only unread posts.
{2} You can see the posts you liked.
{3} You can see popular posts from blogs you haven't followed.
{4} You can see the top ranked blogs on Bloglovin'.
{5} You can see the posts from just one blog at a time.
If you're already a follower via Bloglovin', I appreciate it! And if you're following another way, I appreciate that too! I also have handy dandy buttons on the right side of my blog - I'd love for you to follow along!

ReplyDeleteI just heard about Google Reader today! I am still in shock this is a great post. I am going to have to check out bloglovin. I am not sure what Google is thinking! By the way, thank you for your sweet comment about my spring mantel. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the tutorial. I'm confused about this change; does this just mean we can't read the blogs in Google Reader but we can still follow blogs on Blogger and then click over to new posts as they come up on our Blogger profile page? That's how I've done it, I don't think I ever view any blogs in Reader itself. We'll see, I guess.
ReplyDeleteI came here through the Meet and Greet Blog Hop. Your craftiness is awesome! I'm glad I found your blog. :)

Thanks so much for this info! I had no idea I could do that...and didn't know what I was gonna do about all those blogs.
ReplyDeleteAt the moment it seems that little link is not showing up...they apparently had some server issues. I'm looking forward to trying it out.
I posted a link to this post on my blog so others could come and see your great instructions. :)

Is there a way to read the entire post on Bloglovin?? I realize some blog posts are truncated, but on google reader I was able to read entire posts from most blogs and just click through to the ones I want to comment on or pin, etc... Bloglovin is only showing the first sentence or two of each post - not even as much as a truncated post would show. I love and follow too many blogs and could never click and open each blog to see what the post is about!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tutorial, I would have cried like a babe if I had lost my list of blogs...now with Bloglovin.
ReplyDeleteYou are my hero!!!!! Have so been waiting for this! Thanks for the info. New follower from blog hop!
